Ladies Market Wed, June 15 2011

Oh man was day 3 an adventure! First up on the list, our visit to the famous “Ladies Market”. This is like a HUGE Canal street (for those who have been or live in NYC) Multiple blocks of well, mostly crap. Vendor after Vendor, knock off after knock off.  There were some pretty cool things to find there and some great souvenirs for sure.  But the Best thing about the Ladies Market is the Heckling.  You can ALWAYS talk them down to a MUCH lower price.  Maybe this is why they call it the Ladies Market? Because the least interested you appear the lower the price will get. Just my theory.

There were plenty of fruit stands as well.  Mini papya, and plenty of durian fruit.  Which I tasted for the first time, A very interesting taste, not bad, but in my opinion not good.  The texture was nice though, like warm butter.

I have yet to taste the street meat, but it looks delicious. Well, some of it looks delicious, the rest just looks…interesting.

After the Lady’s Market we took a stroll through the “Fish District”. (for lack of better words)  Store after store of fish, and aquarium supplies.  Really fun! I loved seeing all the amazing aquariums, which we weren’t allowed to photograph. (bummer I know!) At one store in particular we found some amazingly kept tropical fish for sale. At cost well with in the THOUSANDS (US dolalrs)! These fish were trophy fish…literally!  They won trophies for their pedigree if you will.  “Hey fish, stand next to your trophy!  Cheese!” *flash pop!*
